Terms and Conditions
The rules that apply when you use this website and book a tour with Visit the Desert.
Who we are
Visit the Desert is a local tour company based in Zagora, Morocco, founded by Lahbib Lamail. Full company details are available in our Legal Notice. You can reach us at contact@visit-the-desert.com or on WhatsApp at +212 669-902371.
Scope
These terms apply to the use of visit-the-desert.com and to every tour, excursion, transfer or service booked with Visit the Desert. By using the website or confirming a booking, you accept these terms. Your quote or booking confirmation may include specific conditions for your trip: when it does, those conditions apply in addition to these terms.
Using this website
The content of this website is provided for information. You agree to use the website lawfully, to give accurate information in our forms and not to copy or reuse our content without permission. We may update the website and these terms at any time. The version published on the day of your booking applies to your trip.
Quotes and bookings
Our tours are private and prepared on request. Each quote describes the itinerary, the services included and the price. A quote is valid for [7] days, subject to availability.
Your booking is confirmed only when you receive our written confirmation by email or WhatsApp, [after payment of the deposit]. Please check the names, dates, number of travellers and pickup details in your confirmation and tell us about any error as soon as possible.
Prices
Prices are shown in [euros, US dollars or Moroccan dirhams] and include only the services listed in your quote, for example private transport with a driver, accommodation, the meals mentioned and the activities listed.
Unless your quote says otherwise, prices do not include international flights, travel insurance, visas, drinks, tips, personal expenses and entrance fees that are not listed.
Payment
A deposit of [30]% of the total price is requested to confirm your booking. The balance is paid [on arrival, before the start of the tour]. We accept [bank transfer, cash in dirhams or euros, card payment]. Bank fees are the responsibility of the traveller.
Changes requested by you
If you want to change your dates, itinerary or number of travellers, contact us as early as possible. We will do our best to adapt your trip, depending on availability. Any difference in price will be confirmed to you before the change is made.
Cancellation by you
Any cancellation must be sent to us in writing, by email or WhatsApp. The following cancellation fees apply, based on the date we receive your message:
- More than [30] days before the start of the tour: [full refund of the deposit, minus bank fees]
- Between [30] and [15] days before the start: [50]% of the total price
- Less than [15] days before the start, or no-show: [100]% of the total price
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.
Changes or cancellation by us
Your safety comes first. Weather and road conditions in the desert and the mountains can change quickly, for example during a sandstorm or when a mountain pass is closed by snow. In that case, your guide may change the route, the order of the visits or the timing, and we will always offer the best possible alternative.
If we have to cancel a tour, you can choose a new date or a full refund of the amounts paid to us. We are not responsible for costs you have booked separately, such as flights or hotels outside our quote.
Your responsibilities
- Travel with a valid passport and, if required, a visa.
- Tell us before booking about any health condition, allergy or reduced mobility, so we can adapt the trip, especially for camel rides, long drives and hot weather.
- Follow the safety instructions of your guide and driver, and respect local customs.
- Minors travel with a parent or a legal guardian.
- Take out travel insurance covering medical costs and repatriation. Cancellation cover is strongly recommended.
Activities
Some activities, such as camel treks, 4×4 excursions and walks in the dunes, involve physical effort and a certain level of risk. You take part at your own risk and must follow the instructions given. Your guide may refuse or stop an activity if conditions are unsafe.
Liability
We organise your trip with care and work with partners we trust. Within the limits of Moroccan law, we are not responsible for events beyond our control, such as extreme weather, natural events, strikes, road closures, flight delays or decisions by the authorities, nor for the loss or theft of personal belongings.
Complaints
If something is not right during your trip, tell your guide straight away so we can fix it on the spot. After your trip, you can send any complaint in writing to contact@visit-the-desert.com within [30] days of your return. We will reply as quickly as possible.
Photos
We sometimes take photos during our tours. We only publish photos in which you can be recognised with your permission.
Personal data
The way we collect and protect your personal data is explained in our Legal Notice.
Travel agencies and partners
Bookings made by travel agencies and tour operators are covered by a separate partnership agreement. See our page for travel agencies.
Applicable law
These terms are governed by Moroccan law. In the event of a dispute, we will always look for an amicable solution first. Failing that, the competent Moroccan courts will have jurisdiction.
